Jan K. Sykulski is an Emeritus Professor of Applied Electromagnetics at the University of Southampton, UK. He is a Life Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of IET, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a Life Fellow of the British Computer Society. He was awarded a title of Professor by the President of Poland and an honorary doctorate (Dr honoris causa) by the Universite d’Artois, France. He is a founding Secretary of the International Compumag Society and holds various positions at the IEEE and IET. He is Editor-in-Chief of IET SMT, COMPEL and Editor of IEEE Transactions on Magnetics. He holds or has held visiting positions at universities in China, Canada, Italy, Belgium, France, Singapore and Poland. He is a member of the International Steering Committees of the following international conferences: Compumag, CEFC, ISEF, ISTET, ELECTROSOFT, ICEF, EPNC, OIPE, JMW, EMF. He has published over 440 papers. His personal research is in the development of fundamental methods of computational electromagnetics, simulation of coupled field systems, power applications of high temperature superconductivity and design and optimization of electromechanical devices.
