Since June 2020, Alternate Chair (deputy representative) for Italy within the Executive Board of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Technology Collaboration Programme On District Heating and Cooling including Combined Heat and Power. Researcher of Annex TS3: Hybrid Energy Networks.
In February 2019 selected as expert for the Horizontal Working Group (HWG) on 100% Renewable Energy Districts of the of the Renewable Heating and Cooling (RHC) European Platform. In 2022, elected member of the International Compumag Society Board, as representative of Europe in the timeframe 2022-2028. Academy From 2013 to 2017, Honorary Professor in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Main Research Projects The activity has regarded leadership or participation in several research projects funded at different levels. In last ten years, attention has been focused on planning of energy networks, municipal or regional, where results of the research on optimal use of polygeneration microgrids could be positively implemented. In the following a list the main research projects is shown.
In 2020 Project Manager of UNESCO Carbon Free project: techno-economic evaluations of energy efficiency interventions and climate-altering gas emission reduction. In 2019 Local Scientific Head of EU H2020 project 847038 - E2DRIVER (Declaration of Honour). In 2017 Scientific Head of the industrial research project ”Analysis of the district heating network of AEG company in Ivrea and feasibility study for its refurbishment and creation of a new polygeneration station” . In 2016 Scientific Head of the industrial research project ”Optimisation of the energy flows and integration of renewable energy sources in the efficient district heating network of Alessandria. In 2012-2014, coordinator of ”SVPP: Smart Virtual Power Plant” Research Project granted by Piedmont Region on the base of EU funding. In 2013-2015, coordinator of ”EPSEM: Energy Production System Executable Model” Research Project granted by Piedmont Region on the base of EU funding. In 2014-2015, coordinator of ”S2EC - Smart Storage for Energy Communities” Research Project granted by Piedmont Region on the base of EU funding.
